Kitchen Lighting

Because of the variety of uses of the kitchen has it's important to use efficient and effective lighting. You will want to use lighting that is bright and clean and you enabling you to see what you are doing without shadows. General kitchen lighting should be switchable to change the use, ambient lighting which is general lighting which should be low energy and used for the whole kitchen. Accent lighting is used to highlight features in your kitchen, this can be done with cabinet lights or spotlights. Task lighting is focused for cooking food etc so that you can see what you are doing. Task lighting should be placed over worktops or sinks. You may want to consider downlights, or cabinet lights. Please consider that halogen lamps produce more heat than fluorescent or LED lamps.

Bathroom Lighting

Care needs to be taken when selecting bathroom lighting as the bathroom zones are strict concerning the type of light you can use.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting is lighting powered by a battery pack that automatically lights up when the building looses power. Emergency lighting is standard in all commercial and high occupancy residential buildings, they should be tested regularly. Non maintained fittings are not designed to be used normally but should mains lighting power fail it automatically turns on. Commercial Lighting

Commercial lighting is used for long periods during the day so energy saving fitting should be used. We offer an extensive range of commercial lighting fixtures that include low / high bays, modular fittings, and recessed CFL lighting.Metal halide floodlights give off a crisp white light. Metal halide HID (high intensity discharge) are used mainly in commercial areas as the metal halide operates under high temperatures. These can be used to illuminate outdoor playing fields or work zones during nighttime hours.

Ceiling Fans

A ceiling fan keeps you cool by creating a wind chill effect, this can make a room feel up to 8 degrees cooler. It does not lower the temperature of a room but instead makes you feel cooler by accelerating the evaporation on your skin. This can make our ever increasing summer temperatures much more bearable. We are finding more and more customers are fitting ceiling fans in bedrooms and nurseries so that they can help to a decent nights sleep, most of our fans all run quietly, so shouldn’t keep you awake. When used in winter mode (Clock wise) the fan distributes warm air trapped up on the ceiling back, making rooms feel warmer in the winter, which can reduce energy costs by up to 10%.

Lighting Sensors

Occupancy sensors are automatic switching devices that sense human occupancy and control the lighting system accordingly, either by turning on/off the lighting system. PIR sensors used internally / external for detecting movement. Photocells turn on at dusk, off at dawn.

Fire Systems

Standalone, linkable and complete systems that use the following technologies; ionisation, optical and heat alarms. Ionisation smoke alarms are better suited for detecting fast flaming fires. This smoke alarm uses an ionization chamber that consists of two separated positive and negative plates. Alpha particles are constantly released which ionize the air, these particles create a small current. When the smoke particles enter they neutralize the air which drops the current between each plate in turn triggers the alarm. These smoke alarms are best suited in bedrooms and living rooms. Optical smoke alarms are better at detecting smouldering fires. This smoke alarm uses an photoelectric sensor and a beam of light. When the smoke particles enter it blocks the light beam which triggers the alarm. These smoke alarms are best suited in hallways and landings.

Ventilation & Heating

Our range of bathroom fans, shower fans, kitchen fans and inline ceiling fans are sutiable for many aplications. Mains voltage extractor fans, SELV fans, timer models, extractor fans with humidistats, inline ceiling fans, wall fans, fans with pull cords, centrifugal fans. Bathroom fans are either mains voltage or SELV (Safety extra low voltage). UK Regulations goven where the fan can be used within the bathroom zones, mains fans may only be used in Zone 3 of the bathroom. In Zones 0, 1 & 2 SELV fans must be used, with the transformer fixed in Zone 3.

Laser Lights

Our DJ laser light have a small device that emits light (electromagnetic radiation) through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of photons. We stock many different types of DJ laser lights including red, green and blue and colour laser lights as well as multi colour DJ laser lights all competitively priced. Wattages start from 30mw for home us and then up to 2,000mw projection lasers that offer great effects for larger venues such as nightclubs. Our range of lasers are either standalone or DMX control, further details of which can be found by clicking the individual products. The lasers are compact but powerfull and can simply be added to existing bars , they can run in auto or sound mode and can be linked master slave.

Site Equipment

Our range of site equipment includes 110V transformers, fluorescent baterns, site floodlights and all other portable lights. All lights in this section use temporary 110V power A range of fluorescent, halogen and tungsten lights. 110 volt lighting is designed for building site use and is not suitable for home use. New portable lights include PL fluorescent floorstanding lights that can be mounded on a tripod.

Consumer units have different methods of protecting circuits. Our dual split-load consumer unit can be arranged for example the first RCD to upstairs and the second to the downstairs. By alternating the circuits like this, power will always be present on one floor if either RCD trips out. New UK homes will require this under the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations and another way to protect this circuits under the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations is by fitting Residual Current Circuit Breaker With Overload (RCBOs) to every circuit. All our consumer units and boards use a DIN-rail to mount the breakers.
